How Virtual Therapy Works

Virtual Speech and Language Therapy
How It Works

In-person sessions aren’t accessible for everyone, whether that’s because you live somewhere remote, you live abroad as an expat family or simply that,  with school and work schedules, getting to a location isn’t going to work. Teletherapy - using online video calls for therapy-  can work as effectively for many children and families.

What is needed?

To join the session, you'll need a laptop or tablet, a fairly quiet space, and a good internet connection. It's as simple as that!

You’ll receive a secure link to the session via email, and you can use any web browser to access it—there’s no need to download any special software.

Will it suit my child?

Virtual speech therapy works well for children who can engage with someone on screen for up to 30 minutes. We’ll play fun games, and the session will be lively and engaging – definitely not boring!

However, if your child finds it difficult to focus on activities led by adults, virtual therapy may not be the best fit for them right now. If you're unsure whether this approach will work for your child, please get in touch. We can discuss it and see if it’s the right choice for you.

A parent/ carer, or regular school staff member should also be present to take part in the session and to be coached in working with your child on their communication skills.

You will be given some tasks to do with your child between sessions. This is really important - the number one predictor of success in speech therapy is if skills are practised between sessions.
